BB Cream V’s CC Cream V’s Foundation
So ladies the question is are you a CC girl a BB girl or a foundation girl. Or maybe you are like me -up until a year ago I was unsure what the difference was.
So I thought id do a little research in to what the difference between CC creams and BB creams is. I have to say im so glad I did, as I didn’t realise the benefits of using these creams.
Firstly we are all aware of what foundation is. Most of us wear some form of it everyday. There are so many different shades available that give us many levels of coverage.
Lets move on to the biggest new trends in the make up world- CC cream and BB cream. But what is the difference between the two?
The initials ‘ BB’ stand for beauty balm or blemish balm. BB cream is a foundation (though lighter than a foundation and heavier than a tinted moisturiser), a primer (non brightening), moisturizer and sunscreen all in one. It also has built in anti-aging properties. Basically if your looking for a good face cream with sun protection and coverage this is the cream for you. This is such a handy cream to pack if you are going away for a night as it has all the benefits of a moisturiser, foundation, serum, and sun block all in one! You won’t need to load up your makeup bag! BB cream is perfect if you are looking for light coverage, to cover skin perfections (scars and blemishes). I used the Number 7 BB Cream below.
I found it handy to use daily when I had my baby. It was quick and handy. It’s all I had time to put on for the first few weeks when my baby was born! Its great if you want to put on a little makeup running to the shops etc. Here are a few more that were recommended .
The initials CC stand for colour correction or complexion corrector. Also this cream contains a skin brightening primer, sunscreen, light foundation, anti-aging ingredients, and moisturizer and may have collagen boosters. CC cream is similar to BB cream -containing the same crucial properties (moisture, primer, serum, sunscreen) but has an enhanced focus on skin care. As a result, the SPF in CC cream tends to be higher than BB to protect skin from ageing. The heavier consistency of CC cream also has more impact on age spots, uneven skin tone and wrinkles than the lightness of a BB cream. CC cream evens skin tone and conceals imperfections without a heavy finish or oily texture. Olay seems to be one of the more popular CC creams.
The BB cream tends to be a bit heavier and better for dry skin, with a focus on prevention and maintenance, while the CC cream tends to be lighter (so better for acne-prone skin) and focuses on concealing existing issues.
Haven’t Tried the Number 7 CC cream yet. But its on my list!
DID YOU KNOW: BB creams were originally created by dermatologists for patients who had gone through laser skin surgery. They therefore also provide benefits for the skin as well as coverage!
My verdict- I have tried the BB cream and used it a lot when I had my baby and still put it on when on when I go out for a walk, run to the shops etc. However I didn’t realise that CC cream has a higher SPF (preventing skin from ageing!) and has more of an impact on evening skins tones and concealing imperfections! Therefore im off out to get my self some CC cream.
I’ d be interested to hear your opinions on BB creams V’s CC creams and which ones you prefer….. please share your thoughts
